Dialogue Making an arrangement
Teaching aims:
1. To learn some new words & expressions, make sure the Ss can read and write them freely.
2. To practise oral English, ask Ss to make some dialogues about making an arrangement.
Importance & Difficulty:
1. Practise oral English
2. New words and expressions
3. Make new dialogue according to the given statement
Teaching methods:
Listening to the tape recorder; Pair work; Practice
Step 1: Lead-in Ask them to answer my questions:
1) What are you going to do next Sunday?
2) Are you going shopping?
3) Are you going to do sth for your parents?
If you do, that is to say you have made a ‘ARRANGEMENT’, if not, that is to say you haven’t made a ‘ARRANGEMENT’.
Step 2: Presentation 1. New words 2. Read after the tape recorder .3. Read together & try to remember them. 4. Check if the Ss can read the words
II: Listening to the dialogue, then try to answer questions:
(1) What will Jim to do in the summer vacation?(He will visit his parents back East and help out at his father’s business.)
(2) Have A found a summer job yet?(No,he hasn’t )
(3) Why is it hard to find a summer job?(because finding a decent one is becoming more and more difficult every year.)
III: Listen to the tape again, and do the pair work : Ask the Ss to read the dialogue in pairs & then point out their difficulty and discuss them with the whole class.
IV: Language points:
1. plan for the vacation 介词for表示‘的’
2. help out 帮助某人摆脱困境
3. a summer job 暑假工the
4. Finding a decent job is 动名词短语作主语。
Step 3: Pair work At first, ask the Ss to read the dialogue in pairs, then ask two or three pairs to act in pairs in the front of the classroom.
Step 4: Brief Summary Pay attention to these useful expression about making an invitation and suggestion.
Step 4: Homework : Make another dialogue on the exercise book (pair work)& preview the text)

Period 2 From strings to computers (1)
Teaching aims:

2. To practise Ss fast reading skills and try to get the general idea of the text.

1. Master the new words and expressions
2. Catch the main idea of the text
Teaching method:
Listening to the tape; reading; doing exercise
Step One Revision
1. Ask one or two pairs of Ss to perform their dialogues on their exercise book.
