Importance & Difficulty :

1. learn new words

2. get the main idea of the text

Teaching method:

  spelling   reading     practice

 

Step 1        Revision

1. Read the dialogue & words

2. Ask some Ss to make some dialogues 

 

Step 2        Presentation

I. Lead-in

With books open, refer the Ss to the picture. Ask:

       1) What can you see from the picture? What do you think about it?

       2) Where can you find it? Can you find it in China?

The T may tell the Ss that the picture is about the roboshop in Japan.

 

II: learn new words

1.       ask Ss to read by themselves

2.       read after the tape recorder

3.       read together & try to remember them

4.  ask some Ss to read Or a competition of words

III. fast reading practice

1.       Ask Ss to read the text by themselves, try to get the main idea and answer the following question:

How does robo work in roboshop?

2. Discuss with each other & finish ExA &B (p40)

3. Check the answers together

 

Step 3  practice

If time permits, ask Ss to recite the words and read aloud the text to understand each sentence.

 

 

Brief summary:

Pay attention to the pronunciation & spelling of the new words, make sure the Ss can read and write the words.

 

Home work

1. review the words              

2. Ex B (textbook  P45)

Period 3        Roboshop(2)

Teaching aims:

1. to consolidate the words and useful expressions learnt in this unit.

2. to analyses the text and explain some useful expressions.

2. make sure the Ss can use the following language points correctly:

   at work     look like    on top of     such as    say hello to    etc

Step 1      Revision

Revise the words : ask some students to read them

Check the homework

 

Step 2      Presentation

I. ask some students to read the text and point out the difficulty. Then discuss with the whole class. If necessary explain the Chinese meaning of the text sentence by sentence and explain the usage of the following language points:

II. Language points

1. at work ()在工作,(机器)在运转

  eg: Danger! Men are at work on this road.

     Bill is at work on his bike.

2. They work 24 hours a day serving the customers.

  serving the customers 是现在分词短语做状语, 下文的 choosing items and putting it into a shopping basket 是相同的用法

eg: We spent a whole afternoon cleaning the house.

3. much bigger 形容词的比较级前加上much表示“比得多”, “远比…”

  eg: My bedroom is much smaller than yours .

This kind of computer is much more expensive than that.

I have been much happier than before since I came to Chencun Vocational School.

4. Next they put the numbers into a machine, which looks like the ATM machine you can see in the street.

       which looks like the ATM machine you can see in the street是非限定性定语从句, 对它所修饰的machine一词作些附加的补充和说明.非限定性定语从句和它所修饰的词之间往往要用一个逗号分开

  eg: Once upon a time, there was an old merchant, who had three sons..

5. look like 看上去像…;像要;想要. like是介词

  eg: He looks like his father.

It looks like rain.

6. on top of    

at the top of 

两个都表示 顶部.上面

  on后的the常可省略, at后的不可省; on用侧重 的接触,at只指位置 ”.

eg: The man is standing at the top of the mountain.

Put your bag on (the ) top of mine..

7. such as = like “例如, 诸如之类

  eg:. We  have many subjects at school, such as(like) English, maths and PE.

8. It’s fun and interesting to shop here.

  句中it是形式主语,  不定式短语to shop here 是真正的主语. 可以代替由不定式,动名词短语或从句所表示的主语, 而把真正的主语移到句子的后部, 使句子显得比较平稳.

  eg: It’s nice to live here.

        It’s my pleasure to help you.

 

Step 3        Practice

Finish the Ex B (workbook P24)

Brief summary

Try to use these phrases by yourselves  &  master the meaning and usage of them

Period 4          Grammar (The Passive Voice & the Active Voice)

Teaching aims:

1. To revise the passive voice(three tenses)

2. To learn the new grammar: the passive voice (the future indefinite tense)

3. The Ss can change sentences into passive voice and active voice freely.

 

Importance & Difficulty:

1. the basic structure of the passive voice

2. change sentences into passive or active voice

Teaching method:

  Comparison   practice

 

Step 1  revision

Ask Ss to translate the following sentences:

1. Old words are used in new ways.

2. “Tomato” was borrowed from Mexico.

3. New space and science words are being borrowed from other countries.

The basic structure: be + pp.

1)      is / am / are + pp

2)      was / were + pp

3)      is/ am /are + being + pp

 

Step 2         presentation

Passive voice (the future indefinite tense): will (shall) +be + pp.

is /are going to + be + pp.

 

Change sentences into passive.

1.       They will not finish the work next week..

2.       The students are going to hold an English party this evening.

3.       They will choose Dick as the monitor of the class.

 

Step 3      practice

Change the following sentences into passive or active voice:

1.       Jet airplanes, transistor radios, or oil-powered engines will disturb you.

2.       Shall we send him a birthday card tomorrow?.

3.       The children gave the foreigners a warm welcome.

4.       The workers are building a railway over there.

5.       We shall learn a new lesson next time..       

6.       The new library will be built next month.

7.       I was invited to the concert.

8.       The question is being discussed at the class meeting.

Teaching aims:

1. To revise the comparative and superlative degrees of the adjectives and adverbs.

2. To train Ss’ listening skills & make sure can understand the English on the tape.

3. To check the answers in the workbook.

4. To revise the language points of this unit.

Step 1    Revision

  revise the comparative and superlative degrees of the adjectives and adverbs

  Check the homework  Ex A (textbook P44)

 

Step 2    listening comprehension

I. Give Ss several minutes to go through the listening material.

II. Ask Ss to listen to the tape and try to finish the listening exercises by themselves.

III. Check answers together & ask Ss to repeat sentences if necessary.

IV. Listen to the difficulty once again, and make sure the Ss can understand them correctly.

 

Step 3   workbook

1. ask some students to give their answers and check them with the whole class, if they have any difficulty ,explain them.

2. If time permits, check the answers to the other questions.
