Teaching aims:
1. To learn some new words & expressions, make sure the Ss can read and write them freely.
2. To practise oral English, ask Ss to make some dialogues about making an invitation and suggestion

Step 1: Lead-in by presenting the new words:
1)It is said that there will be a concert tonight. Many music stars will make a performance. It sounds wonderful. I promise you will have a good time there. So if you have two tickets, who will you ask to go with you? (ask Ss to answer) You have to make an invitation to invite your partner.
But how to make an invitation? Today we will look into it.
Step 2: presentation
I: new words
1. read after the tape recorder
2. read together & try to remember them
3. check if the Ss can read the words
II: Listening to the dialogue, then try to answer questions:
(1) Will B go to try A’s food tonight? (No, he won’t.)
(2) When will they meet? (seven o’clock on Friday.)
III: Listen to the tape again, and do the pair work : Ask the Ss to read the dialogue in pairs & then point out their difficulty and discuss them with the whole class.
IV: language points:
1. how about sth /doing sth= what about sth /doing sth
2. It sounds fine.
sound连系动词,后接形容词
3. shall we say……
4. serve sb with sth/ serve sth to sb
Step 3: Pair work: Make dialogues according to the given statement
Statement: 你邀请你的朋友JACK3:00PM去看演唱会,但JACK答应了妈妈回家吃饭。你建议下星期再去。JACK答应了,并提出7:00PM在新华书店门口等。

I. Revision
Ask one or two pairs of Ss to perform their dialogues on their exercise book
II presentation
Step 1 lead-in
Did you travel to any place on the National Day holidays? (Ss answer) Were you satisfied with the food there? Is it good or bad? Today we will share some visitors’ some experience in England. They are complaining about the English food. Why? We will get the reason in the text.
Step 2 new words
1. ask Ss to read by themselves
2 read after the tape recorder
3. check if the Ss can read the words
4. give a simple explanation to some words
Step 3 time-limited reading practice
1. Ask Ss to read the text in 5 minutes, try to get the main idea
2. try answer the questions on page 30
3. discuss the questions with the whole class
III. practice
Ask Ss to try to retell the main idea of the text according to the answers of the questions
